"To provide its membership with services which directly benefit their operations and to advance the civil helicopter industry by providing programs which enhance safety, encourage professionalism and promote the unique contributions made by helicopters to society".
With that said, within the HAI there are numerous committee's which further define the scope of that statement. One of those is the UPAC committee (Utilities, Patrol, and Construction). It is this committee that defines and supports the use of helicopters as a cost effective, safe and reliable partner to the electric utility industry. As the nature of the utility industry is changed by the ever increasing demand for cost effective and dependable power it becomes evident that this committee and it's HAI members will play strategic roles to support that growth.
This support is not one sided by any means, it demands the full endorsement of the utilities as well. The UPAC Committee provides a forum for discussion on subjects and techniques of mutual concern. One of the main goals of the Committee is to develop this partnership between it's affiliated members and the appropriate departments within a utility. The major emphasis is to study and address topics of concern as they apply to both parties, specifically safety, cost and reliability. The Committee is actively involved with utility industries worldwide in a multitude of functions helping to bring about the safe and cost effective use of helicopters |
